Featured in this lot is this framed lithograph called "When The Drive Goes Down," from American artist Philip R. Goodwin born in 1881 and died in 1935. Philip R. Goodwin (September 16, 1881 ? December 14, 1935) was an American painter and illustrator who specialized in depictions of wildlife, the outdoors, fishing, hunting and the Old American West. He provided illustrations for numerous books and magazines, as well as for commercial items, such as posters, advertisements and calendars. He is perhaps best known for illustrating Jack London's The Call of the Wild and for providing the cover art for many issues of Outdoor Recreation / Outdoor Life Magazine during the 1920s and early 1930s. He is also the artist who designed the Horse & Rider Trademark of the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. The lithograph features a scene of loggers with a backed up supply of logs in the river sporting hook harpoons and trying to dislodge the backed up waterway. The lithograph is marked with the artist signature in the bottom right hand corner and is titled "When The Drive Goes Down." The lithograph is marked on the back Richardson Supply Co. out of Montana and was housed in the supply Co. office. The condition of this lithograph is well preserved with some wear due to age in the corners and the frame shows similar wear due to age but otherwise is well preserved. The measurements of this framed lithograph is 23 3/4" x 31" and the visible artwork measures 18 3/8" x 25 5/8".
