Born in the Midwest, DeDecker has created many ties to the American West. Driven by his interests in landscape, panorama, vast open space, natural beauty and the life and customs of indigenous peoples, DeDecker has chosen to live and work in many location across the country (including Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona, Washington). In this "Midwest Sunset" he has seemingly returned to his roots (yet while remaining true to his appreciation of the above-mentioned elements of the West), capturing a pastel-colored summertime sunset above leafy trees, wide meadows and thousands of wild flowers. His work demonstrates that he is able to become hypnotized by the peace and tranquility of nature, and he practices a painterly tradition firmly grounded in the exploration of the natural beauty of the vast American landscape.
