Vintage Sterling Southwestern Stamped Cuff Bracelet, 6.25". This is ridged down the center of the appx. 4.5mm bracelet which gives the bracelet an angeled look with a mix of southwestern/Native American stamped images, sun arrows, and a swastika like symbol. "The swastika was a widely used Native American symbol. It was used by many southwestern tribes, most notably the Navajo. Among different tribes the swastika carried various meanings. To the Hopi it represented the wandering Hopi clans; to the Navajo it represented a whirling log ( tsil no'oli' ), a sacred image representing a legend that was used in healing rituals. (quoting from a City of Albuequerque arts page). 2.5" opening from side-to-side and 1.5" from front-to-back. The 6.25" measurment includes the open area at the back of the cuff. that opening is appx. 1-1/8" of that 6.25" measurement. This is meant for a more slender wrist. It does have some slight movement for sliding on the wrist but should never be repeatedly bent as it can weaken the metal over time. It is not marked or signed, likely a handmade piece. It tests as sterling with a weight of appx. 11.96 grams. Very good condition other than oxidation that will polish away. Age is appx. 1960's-1970's. (W8622.1X1 SS8035 J LD 8/12/22).
