PROVENANCE:
William Worthing March (1940 - 2023) was the proud owner of a kennel club in Florida where he raised racing greyhounds in his early career. Later in life he became a jeweler and opened his own jewelry store. It was through this business that he was able to purchase from estates a collection of fine porcelains that have been consigned to us to sell at auction. During his career he had the opportunity to travel to many foreign countries also adding to his collection.

Pair of Chinese Qing Dynasty Wucai Porcelain Drum Stools. Potted with a large cylinder vessel, drum stool shape, having thick and tall potted body, with reverse bowl dome lid finial bud, and raised on round foot base. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base color which contrast against famille rose design color, depicted of eight immortals standing above cumulus clouds and thrashing Lishui wavy waves. The Eight Immortals are a group of legendary immortals in Chinese mythology. Each immortals power can be transferred to a power tool that can bestow life or destroy evil. Together, these eight tools are called the Covert Eight Immortals. Most of them are said to have been born in the Tang or Song dynasty. They are revered by the Taoists and are also a popular element in the secular Chinese culture were frequent adornments on celadon vases. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years of Kangxi Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
