SEVEN ARCHAISTIC JADE BEADS
Late Qing Dynasty
Comprising a small cong of eight tiers, the translucent stone with russet inclusions; a slender plain cong with square sides and circular rims, the gray stone stained black in areas; a conjoined cong carved with a chi dragon on each side, the ends finished with circular rims, the celadon stone stained brown in areas; a drum-shaped bead with a pair of bowstrings at the waist, the stone stained brown at one end; a small flattened tiger-form bead, perforated through the center for stringing, the russet-brown stone stained black in areas; a recumbent tiger perforated on the back, the pale celadon stone stained brown in areas; a cylindrical bead lively carved with a chi dragon, the stone stained black with cream mottling in areas. Overall in good condition. Minor surface pitting and wear. Stones altered to induce colors and textures for the appearance of antiquity. Old chips to corners. Old hairline cracks and reduced areas to the plain cong bead.
