About the Item
Fine Ch'ing dynasty export Famille Rose large punch bowl, hand-painted porcelain, in very colorful everyday scenes of the upper socioeconomic level of Chinese society during the period of the late 18th century (circa 1785). Fruit, floral, and avian decorations are depicted throughout the outside and the interior with colorful Koi fish. Koi Fish meaning is good fortune or luck they also are associated with perseverance in adversity and strength of purpose, the Koi fish symbolize good luck, abundance and perseverance. Symbolic in Buddhism is to represent courage. Today the fish are considered to be symbolic of advancement materially and spiritually. This item was removed from a mansion in Greenwich Ct and is fresh to the market. Late 18th-19th Century
