Set number 125 of the true first edition of Carl Van Doren, BENJAMIN FRANKLIN (NY: Viking Press, 1938), 3 vols., publisher’s navy blue cloth bindings with gilt leather labels on spines and front covers. Signed by Van Doren. The historian Walter Muir Whitehill’s own set, with his bookplate in each volume. Very good condition. Atkinson, Joseph. The History of Newark, New Jersey. Newark: William Guild, 1878. Tall octavo, orig. blue cloth. Includes several references to Benjamin Franklin and much on the Rev. Aaron Burr and Princeton University’s founding. One library discard stamp, otherwise unmarked and very good.
