Servt., Sam Houston," with typical flourish and stylization of the script, together with offset color lithograph portrait by Lajos Markos, artist proof, signed in margin L/R in ink; manuscript 9" x 4 3/4", framed 33" x 40".
Other Notes: The letter is attributed as a correspondence between Sam Houston while serving as the third President of the Republic of Texas, and Anson Jones while serving as Secretary of State of Texas, appointed by the President. Anson Jones served as Secretary of State from December 13, 1841-December 10, 1844.
