after CHARLES MARION RUSSELL (American 1864-1926) A BRONZE DIPTYCH, "Indian Man in Canoe," AND "Indian Woman in Canoe," 20TH CENTURY, parcel gilt and cold painted patinated cast bronze, each signed in bronze, "C.M. Russell," and with the artist's skull symbol in waves, the figure of the lady sits with folded legs atop her casting net reaches backward to clutch a bundle of cattails, behind her is a large pile of fish, banana leaves, and a head of cabbage while she holds her double blade paddle; the companion sculpture is in a more decorated canoe, having a gilt border and tied feathers at the man's back, he sits nobly while clutching the arrow that pierces the wolf's heart topped by a wild game goose, each wears deerskin clothing and feather hair adornments. Height:17 1/2" Width: 28" Depth: 9"
Condition
