Description
Grock was as famous in the 1920s in Europe as Charlie Chaplin was in America. In 1927, he toured this country to much fan fair and caught the attention of the great American artist Reginald Marsh, most known for his paintings and sketches of contemporary urban life in the 1920s and 1940s. It is complete with his famous violin bow, which was the subject of one Marshes early works, as can be seen in the sketchbooks of Reginald Marsh on pages 86 and 92. This paper Mache nodder of "Grock" shows him in full dress, carrying his famous violin bow. CONDITION: There are some areas of paint rubs, paper Mache peeling, and is fully operational with a great aged look. PROVENANCE: From the lifelong collection of Bill Howard.
