Item Details

Description

Late 19th - early 20th century, France. The square bottom birdcage with molded brass frieze is decorated with a foliate band. This example features a pair of birds, one on a brass perch and one on the base. When activated, each bird sings independently while their tails and heads move. The birdcage is accompanied with a period winding crank. CONDITION: Automaton and music box are operable. Bird feathers are tattered with fading and discoloration. Condition would be greatly improved with a good cleaning. Condition: (Good) Dimensions: 19" x 10" x 10"
