This 1840 Kentucky Division of Slaves Among Heirs of Collier Estate. Manuscript Document, 1 page, measuring 12.5" x 7.5", Bourbon County, Kentucky. It describes the division of Slaves of Ebez T. Collier decd. The List of named Slaves includes: "...To Benjamin F. Collier we allotted Clary and her child Margarett Ann Valued at Seven hundred and Seventy five Dolls. ($775.00). To Mary Herndon late Mary Collier, Lucy and Wm. Henry, valued at Seven hundred and twenty-five dolls ($725.00). To John L. Stevenson Jerry and Mary, Jane valued at Six hundred and twenty- five dolls ($625.00). To Elizabeth Ellis, Pocohontas valued at five hundred and fifty dolls. ($550.00)..." and it then continues with instructions on how to best equalize the division. Docketing on verso with date February 3, 1840. Well written and easy to read, being the first we have encountered offering a woman named "Pocohontas"!
