Description
A group of three striking photographs, 1 cabinet card and 2 CDVs, of Native Americans in 19th Century in tramp art frame. Overall frame 17 1/2 x 13 1/4 in.
The center portion features a cabinet card portrait of a Native American man with his arms crossed. He wears a cloth headdress over chin-length hair and a woven blanket wrapped around his shoulders. The left opening houses a CDV portrait of a Native American man and woman wearing traditional clothing. The final opening houses a CDV portrait of a Native American family. The father, seated, wears Western style clothing, while the mother stand wearing a traditional skirt and woven textile around her shoulders, her hair in braids. Their young child stands at center, leaning upon her fathers knee, wearing a beautiful dress decorated with shells. An attractive selection of Native American portraits enhanced by the well-preserved tramp art frame.
A previous owner’s notes indicate the photograph’s subjects may be related to Chief Wah-Shun-Guh.
Condition: some fading/toning.
