Ex Rare Hawkes Russian 2 Part Cut Glass Flower Vase

Item Details

Description

Fantastic cut glass flower vase from the American Brilliant period. It is cut in the Russian pattern by T.G. Hawkes. This vase form is extremely rare and has two parts. The base has a hole that a threaded fitting is inserted and screws into the top (see photos). The top is a round globe cut in Russian. The foot is ruffled on the top and has a Russian cut on the base. A similar flower vase is shown on page 189 of the book "The American Cut Glass Industry" by Jane Shadel Spillman. As you can see in the photo, the book shows the cost at the time was a staggering $66.00. This one we have is especially nicer with the ruffled base which would add to the overall value. Ca. 1900.
