Mitchell as an attorney of the State of New York, Nelson was appointed as judge of New York State courts and served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1845 to 1872 (Previously sold at auction through R.M. Smythe & Co October 1995); used condition, wear/worn, creases, losses to gilt wood frame, not examined outside of frame; overall measurements are approximately 17" x 14 3/4"
