Item Details

Description

Circa 1830, Edgefield District of South Carolina, attributed to Drake, Rhodes & Company working in Pottersville. This jugs spout and handles look to have been brushed with iron decoration. The body is glazed with a rich alkaline glaze. The piece having a double ring spout over a nice thick strap handles having glaze collection near the upper terminals which is pooled nicely all over a beautifully ovoid body. Exceptional condition. H17" W12 1/2" Sold from the collection of Edgefield Scholar J.W. Joseph of Aiken, South Carolina.
