RUSSIAN RELIGIOUS ICON MOTHER OF GOD HODEGETRIA / THEOTOKOS OF TIKHVIN, polychrome paint on wooden panel, the Madonna and Baby Jesus both robed in very detailed jacquard-like garments, the scene depicted in front of a silver-gilt center panel which incorporates her halo at the top. Cyrillic inscriptions located on top and bottom of the piece in the red-orange border and in the white box directly below the figures. 18th or 19th century. 11 1/2" HOA, 8 1/2" WOA.
