Item Details
Description
Central Asia, Nepal, ca. 19th century CE. A cast-bronze figure of regal feminine form depicting either one of the Taras or the goddess Lakshmi. The woman stands semi-nude atop a lotus plinth while holding both arms down past her waist and peers forward from beneath an elaborate crown bearing an image of seated Buddha. A flaming mandorla behind the deity creates a more refined framework, and fine layers of patina create a dignified presentation.
