Luigi Lucioni (1900 - 1988) Signed original etching, titled "Route 7" Luigi Lucioni was aptly named "painter laureate" of Vermont byLIFE MAGAZINE for his famed works depicting that state. Born in 1900 in Italy, Lucioni came to the United States while very young, and since has divided his time between New York and Vermont. His paintings of Vermont and his portraits have taken the most important prizes in contemporary American art. At the Carnegie International Exhibition he received their Popular Prize, followed by two successive Popular Prizes at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. His works are now owned in countless museums, including Metropolitan, Whitney, Seattle, Kansas City, Denver, and Fogg Museums, the Addison Gallery of American Art, Dayton Art Inst tute, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, High Museum in Atlanta.Nebraska State Capitol, Library of Congress, Dartmouth College, Hamil ton College, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Carnegie Institute, Seattle Art Museum, and many other public and private collections.
