Description
An antique late 18th-century Italian transparent glass cup. Elaborate hand-painted decoration includes, grotesques, flowers, portrait of Pius VII as Bishop of Imola, and his coat of arms. Gilt rim. Pope Pius VII, born Barnaba Chiaramonti, 1742 to 1823, was head of the Catholic Church from March 1800 to his death in August 1823. He was made Bishop of Imola and cardinal in 1785.
