Description
A BRONZE WATERPOT AND SPOON, QING DYNASTY
China, 1644-1912. The waterpot of compressed globular form, supported on a slightly concave base and rising to a broad shoulder below a lipped rim. The small spoon with a curved handle terminating into a stylized goose head. (2)
Inscriptions: The base cast with a two-character mark, 'Zhenwan' ('Rare curiosity').
Provenance: Christie's Hong Kong, 4 April 2017, lot 212 (part-lot). A private collection in Hong Kong, acquired from the above.
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, traces of use, and casting flaws. The waterpot is covered in a naturally grown dark patina with malachite encrustation to the interior.
Weight: 289.5 g (bowl) and 11.1 g (spoon)
Dimensions: Diameter 6.3 cm and Length 8.4 cm
