China, c. 1780-1860. The blue overlay neatly carved against the snowflake ground to depict two sinuous chilong writhing along the handle and issuing vines, the mouth and base of the handle encircled by a blue collar. The base wheel-cut with a four-character mark Qianlong nianzhi.

Provenance: From a noted French private collection, acquired in the London trade.
Condition: Good condition with minor wear, a small repair to the mouth, the base smoothened, and expected manufacturing irregularities such as air bubbles and other minor flaws inside the glass.
