China. Finely carved in openwork as a furled lotus leaf borne on a curved stem, cleverly utilizing the dark areas of the stone to depict three bats perched on the leaf with neatly incised veins, the reverse with further leaves, pods, and roots.
Provenance: French private collection.
Condition: Excellent condition with minor wear.
