Description
A pair of antique Chinese, late Qing Dynasty, watercolor paintings on linen canvas scrolls depicting ancestors, portraits of the Emperor and the Empress seated on thrones and dressed in Royal robes and elaborate headdresses. The robes are adorned with a traditional Phoenix bird pattern surrounded by cloud and scrollwork motifs. Unsigned. Circa: late 19th century. These paintings traditionally come from Shanxi province which was home to many of the wealthy merchant families associated with the imperial court during the Qing dynasty.
