Description

A Japanese covered silvered and enamel kogo or box for incense. The box is enameled with polychrome images of grape vines with berries made in the Plique a Jour technique on burgundy ground. Marked or probably numbered, on the bottom. Circa: the early 20th century. A kogo is used for holding incense and historically most often at the tea ceremony, the temple, or for the small worship area in the home. The kogo is also a wonderful item of character to decorate with, in addition to placing small items in, and around the house or office. Antique and Vintage Asian and Oriental Enamel Boxes and Cases, Table Wares, Home Decor, and Collectibles.

Dimensions: D 2 7/8 in. H 2 1/8 in. All measurements are approximate.
