(4to) 26x20 cm (10½x8"), later three-quarter suede and marbled boards, morocco spine labels, all edges red. First Edition.Superb series of fine steel engravings of the countryside and cityscapes of the eastern half of the United States. Views include natural wonders and civilized monuments, including Niagara Falls, New York harbor and city, Faneuil Hall in Boston, the ruins of Fort Ticonderoga, Sing-Sing prison, Washington's tomb, and the Brooklyn Ferry. In a handsome binding which, according to a pencil note on the front endpaper, was bound Elbert Hubbard's Roycroft bindery.
Condition
Spines faded, light wear, front hinges cracked; light foxing; very good.
