Italian carved walnut and burl cassone, 18th century, having a rectangular plank top, opening to an interior till with escutcheon (no key present), the case having relief carved foliate panels interspaced with burl panels, rising on a stepped plinth base resting on carved rectangular feet, apparently unmarked but retaining a label for Steven Postans Antiques.

Approximate dimensions: h. 27.5", w. 65.5", d. 22.5".

Wear to finish overall, scattered small chips, worm holes (inactive), area on center interior of lid has been repaired, water spots on till, age cracks to the interior bottom, two feet missing carvings.
