Bronze Dimensions with Marble Base:Height 27" X Width 15" Marble Dimensions: Diameter 8" Height without base: 24" Weight : 35 LBS Inventory : 42B05521024 Fearless and majestic Grecian Angel, known as god`s messenger in mythology, is carrying a dying hero away from harm becoming his savior. This sculpture, titled "Gloria Victis" was designed by Mercie following France`s defeat in the Franco-Prussian War, exemplified by the man`s broken sword and fallen head. The sculpture stands on a black marble base. Mercie`s original plaster sculpture won a medal at the 1874 Paris Salon. It is signed Mercie. It was cast using the lost wax method.
