ARTIST BIO:

The artist W Van Groot was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1920.

He received his first artistic education at the Academy of his home town. He then worked as a restorer at the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts and devoted much time in studying the Masterpieces of such great Hungarian romantics as Marko Karolyi and August von Pettenkofen.

This background greatly influenced him and he became recognised as one of the finest 20th Century Hungarian Romantic school of painters.

In 1956, he escaped to Vienna and has lived there with his family ever since.
