Two Italian Majolica Polychrome Urns
early 20th century, the first, with blue ground, features scrolled mask handles, the body painted with angelic forms, unidentified mark to the underside (15 1/2 in.) (scattered chips) and a baluster jar and cover, painted with a pastoral scene, labeled in blue on the verso "F.L.V. 1736", probably referring to a pottery factory established near Naples in that year (HOA 15 1/2 in.) (numerous handle chips) not marked on the undersides.
