'The Hockey Scouts' Painting By James Lumbers.

Anyone who grew up in a winter climate can probably
remember playing hockey on a rink near the house. One day
as the fellows were playing a car pulled up and a couple of
men got out and were watching as the boys played.
Talking to each other, they made notes and then later
asked the boys for their names. The men were scouts from
a couple of the farm clubs looking for potential players.

The boys were thrilled beyond words, knowing that they
were being considered for greater things. Two of the
boys were eventually signed up to play for farm teams.
Hard work and devotion to the sport would be needed to
become part of the greatest league of all, and then one
day it happened!
