1 Medium size late 19th century pictorial "Gin Bari" button.
These enamels are ones that are prized among collectors. The word "Gin" is pronounced with a hard G. This type of enamel was developed by the fine artists in Japan a long time ago. Gin Bari enamels are a Basse Taille style although rather than being engine turned on the metal base the foil under the enamel is textured. Most of not all Gin Bari buttons also utilize the technique of Cloisonne fine wire work. This medium example shows a large colorful flower.
Issued: DIVISION 1=PRE 1918 AND DIVISION 3 IS AFTER 1918
Dimensions: SM=Less than 3/4", Medium=3/4" to 1 1/4". Large=1 1/4" and above, extra large=1 3/4" and above
