This gorgeous piece was made in Europe around the 1970s based on a 7th Century Scythian Panther brooch that is in the possession of the British Museum. It is made from gilt Sterling Silver and adorned with deep red garnet cabochons. The high quality of the piece makes it very rare. Usually, museum reproductions are much more crude and don't feature precious materials. The piece is very versatile since it can be worn as either a brooch or a pendant. Very good vintage condition with minor gilding loss. Measures approx. 1 7/8" long x 1 1/2" wide and weighs ca. 18.3 grams. Marked "925" for Sterling Silver and carrying an unidentified designer mark.
