A stylish antique mourning/sentimental locket front brooch. Crafted in solid 9K gold, the brooch features a glass compartment containing plaited blond and brown hair, in memory of a beloved person long departed. Dating to the mid Victorian gothic revival era the brooch has a solid gold back polished to a mirror finish with a very sturdy long pin stem, t-hinge and c-clasp. Engraved on the back. Very good condition, no discoloration or wear to the gold. The pin back and hinge are in good working order. The hairwork is still well pillowed with no sign of breakage or deterioration. Measures approx. 1 5/8" wide x 1 1/8" high and weighs ca. 7.1 grams. Acid tested for 9K gold.
