Description
2 Gujarati Textile Panels, India, 20th C. Including a Kutch skirt panel from Gujarat. This panel is made of blue silk and decorated with embroidery work featuring rows of alternating peacocks and floral medallions. It also features a wide hem adorned with a floral grid, incorporating small round mirror fragments. Size: 1) 77'' x 32'' (196 x 81 cm) Also included is a Festival Hanging (Chakla), dating back to the 19th century. It is embroidered using polychromatic silk floss thread on a cotton ground. The maker primarily used satin stitches and Shisha embroidery to secure the mirrors. Size: 31'' x 32'' (79 x 81 cm). Provenance: Ex Yosi Barzilai collection.
