An ancient Roman bronze votive bull figure from the cult of Mithras. Circa 1st to 3rd centuries AD. The sculpture depicts a walking young bull, possibly a calf, with thin long legs and a massive head and neck. Mounted on a rectangular stand. Mithraism is a mystical religious cult common in the Roman army in the 1st to 4th centuries AD. An important part of Mithraism was the sacred act of slaughtering a bull.
