It shows a version of the penitent Mary Magdalene. She is depicted against a tree with her hand over her heart. Her left hand is placed on an open book. There is a small lifelike version of Jesus hanging on the cross above her right shoulder. And a skull and covered chalice are on the ground in front of her. The details in the foreground foliage and background landscape are mind boggling. Includes a fine quality antique frame. The painting does have some spots of restoration visible in the face and figure. Mostly on her left shoulder and beneath that. Overall though the painting is in very fine original condition. The original brushstrokes and crackle are visible through a large proportion of the painting. Conservation was done by a master.
