Description
Tazza c.1862, probably designed by Leon Arnoux with puce ermine Exhibition mark to underside, designed for display at the London International Exhibition 1862, the stem modelled as three parian back to back storks supporting a shallow dish beautifully painted in bright enamels against a 22ct gilded ground all in the style of Owen Jones. Similar examples (possibly including this example) appear in the Minton cost book for the 1862 Exhibition with head designer listed as Leon Arnoux. Provenance Nick Boston Antiques; 6"h, 5 1/4"d, plate professionally reattached to base. A similar example is held in the collection of the Victorian & Albert Museum
