Western Europe, Stuttgart, Germany, Holzmaden Black Shale Formation, Jurassic period, ca. 200 million years ago. A massive and exquisitely preserved stone slab that contains pyritized ammonite fossils! The matrix is unbroken and completely intact with one large and one partial Harpoceras ammonite. The captivating gold hue of the ammonite, naturally colored by mineralization over millions of years, adds to its allure, though the intensity of this color may vary. The exceptional quality and size, is a testament to the unique fossil-rich legacy of Holzmaden, which is known for producing some of the world's finest Jurassic marine life fossils.
