A 19th C. Late Qajar Era Persian Religious The Coffee House (Ghahve-Khaneh) Style Oil On Canvas Painting, "Mir Abdol Razagh" Signed. 59" x 39". About Coffee house painting style: Coffee house painting is a style of Iranian painting. This painting is a narrative oil painting with martial, religious and goat themes that peaked in the late Qajar and early Pahlavi eras at the same time as Iran's constitutional movement. Significant examples of the works of coffee house painting artists are kept in the Reza Abbasi Museum (Tehran, Iran). About This Artwork: The painting is about The story of Prophet Yaqub and his son Yusuf. Yaqub was also known as Israil. Israil's children could see that Yusuf was their father's favorite. This made them very jealous. They became so jealous, that they actually wanted to kill him. The jealous brothers finally decided to throw Yusuf into a deep well.
