Published by Garnier Fréres Paris, 1855. This comprehensive historical work by Théophile Lavallée was written to respond to the increasing interest in Turkey in the Western world after the Tanzimat. The book covers the beginning of the Ottoman Empire and the events pre and post the Conquest of Istanbul to the Treaty of Karlowitz and the events that took place until mid-19th century. The work was printed with the engraving technique from the charcoal drawings drawn by Thomas Allom. Size: 10.5in x 7in (27cm x18cm)
