This lovely, originally hand-colored botanical engraving is from Jean Claude Michel Mordant de Launay & Jean-Louis-Auguste Loiseleur-Deslongchamps's Herbier g?n?ral de l'amateur, contenant la description, l'histoire, les propri?t?s et la culture des v?g?taux utiles et agr?ables. The work was published in Paris in 1827 by Imprimerie de Fain for Audot.
It was one of the finest French flower works. The engravings were after original drawings by Pancrace Bessa with some by Pierre Joseph Redoute and Pierre Antoine Poiteau.
