Peter Kinzing was a court clockmaker to the Duke of Nassau and a royal French court clockmaker and mechanicus. The Kin(t)zing family achieved fame in Europe in the 18th century through their co-operation with the cabinetmaking family around Abraham and David Roentgen. Important members of this family were Christian Kintzing (1707-1804) and his son Peter Kinzing (1745-1816). From 1770 onwards, the Kinzing clockmaking workshop and the Roentgen cabinetmaking workshop worked closely together.
