The pendant features a tanzanite set within a tiered diamond bezel, completed by a white gold bail. The pendant is supported by an eighteen inch length 14KT white gold designer style chain, terminating in a lobster claw clasp. Bright polish finish. Identified with markings of "14K". Containing: One prong set oval brilliant cut natural tanzanite, measuring 13.80 x 11.50 x 7.89mm, 8% bulge factor, approximate weight of 9.14ct., clarity is eye clean, type I, dark, very slightly grayish, violetish blue color, (GIA vB 7/3), cut is good. Originally discovered in 1967. Tiffany & Company, named the stone Tanzanite. It is found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. Tanzanite occurs in gray, brown, violet, blue, reddish-purple, & green. The gem is interesting because of its exceptional pleochroism. Rotated in different directions a tanzanite will exhibit multiple changes of color. Tanzanite has a low tolerance to ultrasonic cleaning, and should not be cleaned using this method.
