The pattern is referred to today and was most widely known in the marketplace as Cupid and Venus or, less frequently as Guardian Angel. Richards & Hartley was noted for its pattern 500 tableware, Cupid and Venus from 1875 to 1884. It was a popular intricate design with its notable cameo with a woman (Venus) and a winged boy (Cupid) next to each other. Ruth Webb Lee states that probably the production peaked from 1875 and 1880. It may have been made again at Factory E of US Glass Company from 1891 to 1893. There is some debate as to whether Cupid and Venus was manufactured by USG Co(United States Glass Company) at Factory E or whether what was sold by USG Co was acquired inventory from the acquisition of Richards & Hartley.
