Description
This Antique Rustic Farmhouse Style LF&C Brass Front Spring Scale shows its age, but still works wonderfully! With its wonderful patina, it would be an amazing addition to any vintage or farmhouse style kitchen, or a smart purchase for any collector of antique Americana. It could also be used to weigh fish, and could be a nice addition to any fisherman's collection.
Based on our research, this was likely produced around the turn of the 20th century, as the name “Universal,” was adopted in the 1890’s for most of their household products.
George Landers began his hardware manufacturing company in 1842, but in 1865, gained two new partners, Frary, and Clark, who then incorporated the business and became LF&C. By the early 1900’s, they were the leading producers of cutlery in the world.
In 1965, LF&C, it’s products, and the Universal trademark were acquired by the General Electric Company’s Housewares division.
