Other Notes: As wood is a material prone to easy decay, this figure is rare for being in complete condition and retaining the cloth with gilding and polychrome in most areas. As such, there are no direct comparables for this figure. The distinctive and exaggerated posture with hands in opposite directions is most often found in brass figures (see Christie's sale 2640, lot 362, sold for $7,500 on March 20, 2012).

With shelf wear, scuffs, scratches, and indentations commensurate with age and materials. Scattered cracks and losses. Flaking to the polychrome. Both arms repaired and somewhat loose.
