The Starry Night is his most famous piece of work, which he created while in an asylum in France. Vincent Van Gogh did not cut off his ear, only a small portion of his ear lobe. He had an older brother who died at birth who was also named Vincent Van Gogh. Van Gogh suffered from depression and shot himself but did not die for two days at the age of 37.
