This rare lobby card is an astonishing piece of film history from the groundbreaking Expressionist masterpiece conceived by writers Hans Janowitz and Carl Mayer. Dubbed "the first true horror film" by Roger Ebert, Caligari pushed the art of filmmaking deep into the uncharted territories of psychological fear and fantasy, exploring the darker side of human consciousness with a perfectly surrealistic set design and labyrinthine plot.

A lobby card that has been restored with airbrushing to address signs of use and pinholes. A minute chip in the upper border has been repaired but is still visible.

This film by Robert Wiene is considered the standard by which all other German expressionist films are judged; it influenced many different directors, including Paul Leni, Fritz Lang, F. W. Murnau, and Robert Siodmak.
