Giant is a 1956 American film directed by George Stevens. It stars James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor, and Rock Hudson. The movie focuses on the life of a Texas cattle rancher and his family challenged by the advent of big oil and shifting societal norms. It was nominated for nine Academy Awards, with Stevens winning Best Director. The Library of Congress selected the film for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.
